since i'm still unemployed at the moment, i decided to do something worthwhile which i could probably benefit from in the long run. i have little interest in some stereotyped-female activities like learning to do make up and shopping, but i do old school sewing. it's a boring activity, i know, but i somehow have enough patience to practice altering some of my clothes. when i stumbled upon the this blog which was featured in yahoo weeks ago, i said to myself "heck, this is so clever i love it!". in no time i was scouring through mother's closet and looking for a garment that might work. unfortunately, some of the good-to-go pieces for my new project were either donated or plain gone, which left me with few clothes to work with.

first on the rack is an old long skirt which would probably be a joke if you're seen wearing it today. i like the color and the print though so it would be a waste if it was kept in the closet to age. i trimmed a good two inches from the top of the skirt and made dress straps from it.

my first project is still have baked though since i need to take in the sides to give it shape. for now, i'll be using a belt to give it a more natural dress look.
